1977年，一名離鄉背井的少年羅英雄來到了充滿硫磺煙幕、又神秘卻又溫柔的溫泉鄉﹣北投，遇到了命中註定的那個女孩秀秀，從相遇、相識到相知相惜，兩人歴經了一段甜蜜又刻骨銘心的戀情，但是在那個簡單的年代，卻背負著不簡單的生活⋯⋯
當北投逐漸面臨落没時，他們也無法置身事外，生活的壓力、家人的選擇，加上一位善良且願意提供援助的日本年輕人白原介入了他們的生活，白原所做的一切只為了要娶秀秀回日本。為了家人，秀秀陷入了掙扎，直到英雄終於決定要和秀秀一起遠離北投⋯⋯
就在兩人決定拋下一切，開心的騎著摩拖車衝向車站的那一刻，在車站迎接他們的卻是所有的家人，兩人望向彼此，無奈著⋯⋯
