二十世紀初，左派思想自歐洲崛起後，逐步影響了亞洲各國，在日本，社會運動更有風起雲湧之勢。 這股風潮傳到了當時為日本殖民地的台灣，全台因此爆發了數百次農民抗爭事件。 1925年，春梅的父母為了爭取蔗農權益，結合有志一同的農民，趁日本雍仁親王來台之際，串連抗爭， 沒想到卻因為一起意外事件而慘死，孤女春梅被迫離開家鄉，從此展開顛沛流離的命運… 春梅憑著勇氣與毅力，挺過艱難跟困苦，也經歷了日本軍國主義的崛起與式微。 這一生，她咬牙堅毅地活了下來，見證台灣女人為生存永不妥協的精神！
